Wheat QC claim calculator

Enter the lab readings for a wheat lot, your standard and how you claim for each parameter. See every deduction in quintals and rupees, the net weight and the amount to pay.

The lot

Weight, bags and rate as on the vendor's bill.

Quality parameters

Enter up to three readings per parameter. The claim is worked out on their average. Standards other than 12% moisture are examples: use your mill's own.

Claim 1.5 qtl · ₹3,750 · Average 13.5 is 1.5 above the standard 12. Claim 1.5 × ratio 1 = 1.5% of gross.

No claim · Average 77 is not below the standard 76, so no claim.

No claim · Average 1.63 is not above the standard 2, so no claim.

Claim 1 qtl · ₹2,500 · Average 2.4 falls in the 2 to under 3 slab: 1% of gross.

Settled claim

Optional. If you agreed a different figure with the vendor, it replaces the calculated claim. Enter 0 for no claim.

How the calculation works

Each parameter is checked on the average of its readings. A claim applies only when the average crosses the standard in the direction that matters: above for moisture, refraction and mitti, below for HL. The claims are added, the empty bag weight is deducted, and the rest is the net weight you pay for.

% of weight

Claim % = difference from the standard × ratio. The claim in quintals is that percentage of the gross weight.

Flat ₹ per quintal

A fixed amount for every quintal of gross weight once the average crosses the standard.

Flat ₹ per bag

A fixed amount for every bag once the average crosses the standard.

Slabs

Each range of readings carries a fixed deduction %. An average on a boundary belongs to the higher slab. The standard is not used.

Questions about QC claims

How is a wheat moisture deduction calculated?

The most common method takes the difference between the average moisture reading and the standard, multiplies it by a ratio, and deducts that percentage of the gross weight. With an average of 13.5%, a 12% standard and a ratio of 1, the claim is 1.5% of the lot: 1.5 quintals on 100 quintals.

Why is the claim worked out on the average of the readings?

Labs usually take more than one reading from a lot. Comparing the average with the standard stops one high reading from deciding the claim, and gives the vendor a figure they can check.

What is a settled claim?

A figure the mill and the vendor agree on after discussion. It replaces the calculated claim for that lot. Enter it in the settled claim box to see the net weight and amount with the agreed figure.

Does the calculator save my figures?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to GrainTech. The copy link button puts the figures into the link itself, so only people you send it to can see them.

Can GrainTech apply these rules to every lot automatically?

Yes. In GrainTech you set the standard, direction and claim method for each parameter once. At raw material entry the claim is calculated on the average of the readings and shown in quintals and rupees, and a settled claim can replace it.

Stop working out claims by hand at the gate.

GrainTech applies your claim rules to every wheat lot at raw material entry. See how QC claims work in GrainTech.
